A museum as a place to experience the past: Three residential rooms with their original furniture in the house of the first Federal President encourage you to travel back in time to the late fifties. On the lower floor of the building a permanent exhibition depicts the life of Theodor Heuss over five periods of German history from the imperial Reich to the Federal Republic. Following the traces of this unusually multifaceted biography, visitors can explore the opportunities and difficulties a middle-class intellectual was faced with in the 20th century and discover along the way the historical roots and early years of the Federal Republic.
